SBU presses charges against russian judges for the unlawful sentencing of Azov Brigade POWs

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has charged in absentia two judges of Russia’s Southern District Military Court, Konstantin Prostov and Sergey Obraztsov, with war crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war. In 2024, they sentenced members of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine to 18 years in prison for their participation in combat operations, in direct violation of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War. The SBU has documented these actions as violations of POW rights and is taking measures to bring those responsible to justice.
