Overview
Pre-Trial Detention Centre No. 2 in Kashin, Tver Oblast, is used as a camp for holding Ukrainian prisoners of war. According to military expert Dmytro Sniehyriov, between 150 and 200 Ukrainians are currently detained there. The conditions of detention involve constant physical and psychological pressure.
Torture and Abuse
Prisoners are tortured, beaten, and forced to take part in staged videos that degrade their human dignity. These actions are carried out with the knowledge and orders of the facility’s administration as part of the so-called “re-education” and “denazification.”
Psychological Pressure
Prisoners of war are denied contact with their families and representatives of international organizations. Psychological pressure, combined with propagandist “re-education” methods, is aimed at breaking their will and coercing them into participating in propaganda videos.
Testimonies
“Ukrainian captives are subjected to physical and psychological pressure. They are tortured, beaten, and forced to take part in staged videos that humiliate their dignity,” — Dmytro Sniehyriov, military expert.
